What does Bicarb do in our deodorants?Updated a month ago
Bicarb soda neutralises odour, and it's been doing that job in natural deodorant for decades. We use it in five of our scents, in both the stick and the paste: Surf, Urban, Wild, Tux and Pop.
Skin varies a lot in how it gets on with bicarb. If you'd rather go without it, the bicarb-free scents are Mellow, Tango and Drift, built on magnesium hydroxide and magnesium carbonate hydroxide instead. Drift is extra strength, so you can have the strength without the bicarb.
Go sparingly to start - up to three swipes of a stick is plenty, or no more than half a pea of paste per underarm, warmed between the fingertips and rubbed in like a moisturiser. Apply to clean, dry skin.
If your underarms feel red, sore or itchy, stop using it and let your skin settle. Get in touch and we'll help you work out where to go next, whether that's a gentler option or a refund.
If you'd rather try a few scents before you commit, there's a Deodorant Paste Sample Pack.
