Why do my underarms feel irritated?Updated 2 months ago

Underarms can be sensitive, and irritation can pop up for lots of everyday reasons — even if you've been using Woohoo happily for ages.

First things first: pause your deodorant and let your skin settle down. If it doesn't settle, or the skin is broken or blistered or a rash is spreading, please see your doctor or pharmacist — that's beyond anything a deodorant swap will fix.

Then get in touch. We'd much rather work it out with you than have you give up on natural deodorant, and you don't need to wait the 90 days out to talk to us. If a formula isn't right for your skin, we'll help you find a gentler one or sort out a refund.

When you do, here's what we'll ask about — these are some of the usual culprits:

  • applying deodorant straight after shaving or waxing (more on that here)
  • using more than you need
  • yesterday's deodorant not fully washed off
  • rubbing from clothing
  • how your skin responds to particular ingredients

Day to day, a nightly wash with warm, soapy water helps keep things calm.

If a gentler formula turns out to suit you better, we have a whole bicarb-free range and an essential-oil-free range. Mellow is our gentlest, and the only deodorant that's both.
