Stains on my clothing - how do I deal with those?Updated a month ago
Stains come from two places, and the fix is different for each.
Antiperspirant and sweat stains. Yellowing is the classic one, and it comes from aluminium antiperspirants reacting with sweat. Aluminium also dries white on the skin and rubs off onto your clothes, so it leaves white marks as well. And sweat on its own stains, because it carries salt and minerals that build up over time. Using less deodorant won't shift a stain that's already there, so it's a laundry job - our laundry tips go through a few ways to get it out. There's no aluminium in any Woohoo deodorant, so that kind isn't coming from us.
Deodorant stains. White, powdery or greasy, and usually because a bit too much went on or a paste wasn't rubbed in. They can turn up fresh, or build up over many wears. A small amount of dishwashing liquid worked into the stain before washing is our go-to. If it's built up, or the grease has gone right into the fabric, it wants a soak rather than a spot treatment.
Not sure which you've got? Start with the dishwashing liquid, then soak it if that hasn't shifted it.
To stop it happening again, use only a small amount. With a paste, rub it in fully until it disappears. You don't usually need to rub a stick in, but if you're getting stains it's worth a try. There's more on how much you actually need, and washing it off at night helps too, so there's less sitting on your skin to start with.
