Yes — our deodorant formulas have been through two rounds of updates, in 2025 and again in 2026. Here's the full story.
2025: A supply crisis forced a reformulation
In June 2025, a key ingredient — candelilla wax — became unavailable, which meant we had to rebuild our deodorant stick and paste bases from scratch. As part of that reformulation:
Candelilla wax was replaced with rice bran wax for smoother glide and easier release from the tube
Coconut oil was replaced with MCT oil
Kaolin clay was replaced with bamboo powder
Zinc oxide was removed and replaced with zinc ricinoleate
Magnesium was added to Urban and Surf alongside bicarb soda
2026: We listened to feedback and improved further
Over the following year, customers told us they missed the feel and performance of the original formula. So we went back into the lab.
Deodorant sticks (June/July 2026):
Zinc oxide has been brought back. Zinc ricinoleate remains in Extra Strength formulas for an additional layer of odour protection
Urban and Surf have returned to their original bicarb-based formula (magnesium removed)
The 2025 wax system remains, so the stick still has the improved glide and release introduced in 2025
Deodorant pastes (July 2026):
Mango butter introduced for a smoother, more cohesive texture
New blend of plant waxes for better stability across different temperatures
Zinc stearate added for a soft, velvety feel
Zinc oxide welcomed back for skin-loving benefits and formula stability
The result is a more consistent, smoother paste that performs better in both warm and cool conditions
Products with the updated formula display a "NEW JUNE 2026 FORMULA" or "NEW JULY 2026 FORMULA" sticker on the product page for a period while we transition formulas.
Is the formula the same as the original?
Not exactly — but it's closer. The wax system from 2025 remains, but the return of zinc oxide (and further paste improvements) makes both the sticks and pastes feel much closer to the originals many customers know and love.
